Sprouts Opens Tomorrow in Weatherford. Here's the Full Story Behind the Corner It's Anchoring.

Tomorrow morning at 6:45, a ribbon gets cut at 317 Center Point Rd in Weatherford. Doors open at 7 a.m. sharp, and Sprouts Farmers Market officially arrives in Parker County (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026). But this isn't really a grocery store story. It's the story of a nine-acre corner at Interstate 20 and Center Point Road that has quietly become one of the fastest-filling retail corridors west of Fort Worth, backed by an eight-month city negotiation, a $20 million capital commitment, and a Costco across the street that already proved this intersection could pull a crowd.

The Numbers

Sprouts will open at 317 Center Point Rd on July 31, bringing 93 full- and part-time jobs to Weatherford, according to a company release reported by CultureMap Fort Worth (Merry, 2026). The chain held in-person hiring events June 16 and 17 at the SpringHill Suites in Willow Park, filling roles from deli and grocery clerks to department managers and cashiers (Merry, 2026; Townsend, 2026). Once open, the store will run daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026).

Sprouts is not coming alone. The store anchors Weatherford Point Shopping Center, a development that will also include Whataburger, Jason's Deli, Starbucks, Resort Nails, and Pacific Dental, according to a report on the project's progress (Sprouts grand opening, 2026). That report describes the property as a nine-acre, seven-lot tract at the northeast corner of Center Point Road and the I-20 frontage road, directly across from Costco.

I want to flag one discrepancy here: the same report describes the parcel as nine acres, while the City of Weatherford's own 2024 council agenda and a local news account of that meeting both put it at 7.9 acres, or "roughly 8-acre[s]" (City council moves forward, 2024). I'm using the city's figure as the more authoritative number, but wanted to note it rather than pick one silently.

The Money Behind the Corner

Here is the part that took eight months to put together and never made a press release. In September 2024, the Weatherford City Council approved a development agreement with Retail Partners, LLC to bring the project to life. Per that agreement, the developer will rebate the city 70% of the sales tax generated on the property every year, in exchange for a minimum capital investment of $20 million on the site (City council moves forward, 2024). The developer also committed to closing on the parcel and handling its annexation, zoning, and platting into the city, and to starting construction within six months of signing.

"Eight months of discussion with a major grocery retailer came to fruition Tuesday night," is how the local paper covering that meeting described it (City council moves forward, 2024). That is not a small thing for a city this size. It's the kind of deal that gets negotiated quietly for the better part of a year before anyone outside city hall knows a Sprouts is coming.

What's Already Built, and What's Still Coming

Construction records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show the shape of the project in more detail than any press release will. The shell buildings for Weatherford Point, three separate structures labeled Buildings 1, 5, and 7, carry a combined construction value of $8.1 million across 35,350 square feet, registered in April 2025 with Hodges Architecture as the design firm of record (Zabalist, n.d.-a). That figure lines up closely with the "roughly 35,000 square feet of additional retail space" described in the city's own project documentation (Townsend, 2026).

The individual tenant build-outs are still catching up to Sprouts. Starbucks' interior buildout at the center, filed under a separate TDLR registration, carries an estimated completion date in September 2026, more than a month and a half after Sprouts opens its doors (Zabalist, n.d.-b). I'm flagging this next part because I pulled it from a secondary aggregator rather than a direct project-page fetch: Zabalist's listings for the Jason's Deli and Whataburger buildouts show estimated values of roughly $800,000 and $3.7 million respectively, which I'd treat as directional rather than fully verified. Anyway, the takeaway holds either way: Sprouts is the first domino to fall on this corner, not the last.

Across the Street, a Preview of What This Corner Can Do

Weatherford Point isn't building a customer base from scratch. It's building next to one. Costco opened directly across the intersection at 310 Center Point Rd in March 2025, the first Costco to ever land in Parker County (Keck, 2025). Shoppers started lining up before 1 a.m. for the grand opening, and Costco's own general manager told the crowd that of every city the company had partnered with, Weatherford's support had been the strongest he'd encountered (Keck, 2025). That store alone is reported to run about 160,000 square feet and added more than 230 jobs to the local economy.

So maybe that's the real signal here. A retailer as selective as Costco does not choose a corner by accident, and a specialty grocer as selective as Sprouts does not follow it by accident either.

The Store Itself

Sprouts describes itself as one of the largest and fastest-growing specialty retailers of fresh, natural, and organic food in the country, with roughly 36,000 employees across more than 480 stores in 25 states (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026). The Weatherford location will carry the format the chain is known for: fresh produce at the center of the store, a butcher and seafood counter, a bulk department with hundreds of bins, and a wellness section of more than 7,000 vitamins and supplements (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026).

Two smaller details worth knowing if you're a regular shopper: the deli runs a $5 sushi special every Wednesday, and its build-your-own sandwiches start at $4.99 (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026).

Grand Opening Weekend, If You're Going

The celebration runs three days, not one. From Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2, Sprouts is running a full slate of grand-opening activities, including free reusable totes for the first 200 shoppers on Friday and Saturday, and a free long-stem rose for the first 400 guests on Friday, courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026). New Sprouts Rewards members get 20% off their purchase once during the weekend using promo code WEATHERGO20, and shoppers can enter to win a $500 gift card at Sprouts.com/weatherford (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026).

Worth noting for the neighbor-first crowd: this store has already committed to donating groceries that are still good but no longer sellable to the Tarrant Area Food Bank through Sprouts' Food Rescue program, and the company says it's sourcing local produce through partners like J&B Farms and Little Bear Produce (Sprouts Farmers Market, 2026). Small detail, but it's the kind of thing that tells you whether a new chain is trying to become part of a community or just occupy a corner of it.

What This Means for the Weatherford and Hudson Oaks Corridor

Retail follows rooftops, and rooftops follow retail. When a corner like I-20 and Center Point goes from one big-box grocer to a second grocery anchor plus five more tenants inside two years, that's a data point worth watching if you own property anywhere along this stretch, not just next door to it. It's the same pattern I've tracked on the Chisholm Trail corridor in southwest Fort Worth: infrastructure and anchor tenants show up first, home values follow with a lag.
